UND Aerospace is on the forefront of aviation technology, having developed world-class software systems for the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences as well as for some of the worlds leading aircraft manufactures. These systems provide the tools necessary to educate the top aviation students in the world.
Students of the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences touch UND Aerospace software on a daily basis. All aircraft and crew scheduling, maintenance, dispatch, and records are managed within the Aviation Information Management System (AIMS) and CrewLink. Combined, these systems allow students and parents to follow their progress and complete their training on time. These systems also streamline the day-to-day airport operation and provide efficiencies that significantly increase aircraft utilization.
Many instructors have their course work available for students to view online within eZ, UND Aerospace's Learning Management System (LMS). Developed by the AeroSpace Network, eZ is utilized extensively within the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences and many other higher education institutions, to deliver course work and administer assessments over the Internet. Through any Internet connection, students have access to their coursework and assignments anytime, anywhere.
In addition, UND Aerospace has developed several Flash Based trainers to aid student development. Examples include Checklist trainers for the Piper Warrior, Aero, and Seminole, a Multi-engine trainer, and trainers to help students understand forces acting on an aircraft and its aerodynamics. Currently under development is a Virtual Engine, designed to allow students to "dismantle" and "build" an aircraft engine piece by piece, all while learning how the parts work together and seeing each part's function.
